It can sometimes be difficult finding your place in the world. As a graduating senior at San Diego State University, majoring in Hospitality and Tourism Management, I have spent many years studying and understanding the term "leadership". Even though I've been placed in situations where I take on the role as "leader" and have maintained some leadership roles, I'm still not so sure where I fit just quite yet in the "leadership" spectrum... And I'm learning that's okay.

People say leaders are born, not made. While others argue that leaders can be made, and not all leaders are born. Although there are several alibis for both arguments, I find that the latter strikes more true to me. I propose that being a leader is dependent on your own unique individuality and what you make of the journey to your own growth in leadership.

I firmly believe you can shape individuals to become leaders, whether or not they are "born" as one. Becoming a leader is an infinite and open learning process uniquely designed based on your main values and perceptions of leadership.

"Leadership is not about titles positions or flow charts. It is about one life influencing the other." - John C. Maxwell

To further elucidate, on personality tests such as PRINT SURVEY, I scored a 2 for my "major". This means I am a selfless individual, seeking to provide assistance for others and valuing others before me. In relation to leadership roles, I'm learning that I want to contue to learn how to be a leader with a strong interest in training and development. Who you are and what you value will affect how you grow as a leader.

There is no definite "status" of leadership that is assigned to you at a specific stage in life (unless you are referring to royalty). There is always growth and space to learn. That is why I feel it is okay that I am not too sure of where I stand firmly in leadership because I am still learning about myself and what impact I can make on others. I am not obligated to decide on what exactly I am as a leader because there is still much to be learned. In this blog, I will uncover my own place in the world through my unique individualized journey to growth...
